Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy Statement
Waste Removal Fulham is committed to operating ethically and with integrity in all our business activities. We recognise our responsibility to identify, prevent, and address modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. This statement sets out the steps we are taking to uphold that responsibility and reflects our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
We adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, child labour, and human trafficking. This applies to every aspect of our business, including direct employment, contracted labour, and the procurement of goods and services. We expect the same standards from all parties we work with, regardless of their size, location, or function.
All managers and supervisors are required to ensure that working practices under their control are free from exploitation and coercion. Any breach of this policy by employees may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. Any breach by suppliers or contractors may lead to the termination of contracts and cessation of future business.
Our Supply Chains
Our supply chains include providers of waste collection equipment, vehicles, fuel, protective clothing, recycling and disposal facilities, and outsourced services. We recognise that certain areas, such as manual labour, outsourced cleaning, and the sourcing of materials and equipment from higher-risk regions, may be more vulnerable to modern slavery risks.
We aim to build long-term relationships with reputable suppliers that share our values. We communicate our expectations clearly and require suppliers to comply with applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws, as well as our own standards on ethical conduct.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We conduct proportionate due diligence on new and existing suppliers to assess the risk of modern slavery within their operations. This includes gathering information on ownership structures, employment practices, recruitment methods, and the use of subcontractors or agency labour.
Where we identify suppliers as higher risk, we undertake enhanced checks and may request evidence of their own modern slavery policies, training programmes, and monitoring processes. We reserve the right to conduct on-site visits or remote audits to verify compliance. In some cases, we may work with suppliers to improve their practices through corrective action plans, clear timelines, and follow-up reviews. If meaningful improvement is not achieved, we will reconsider the business relationship.
Training, Awareness, and Reporting Channels
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery among our employees and key partners. Relevant staff receive training on recognising signs of exploitation, understanding risk indicators in waste management operations, and knowing how to respond appropriately to concerns.
We maintain clear reporting channels for employees, contractors, and other stakeholders to raise concerns confidentially and without fear of retaliation. Concerns can be reported to line managers, senior management, or a designated safeguarding contact within the company. All reports will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and treated as sensitively as possible. Where required, we will seek guidance from relevant authorities and cooperate fully with any official investigations.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that the risks of modern slavery can evolve over time, particularly as our business and supply chains change. To ensure our approach remains effective, we monitor our performance and review our policies, due diligence processes, and training content on a regular basis.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by senior management to assess its effectiveness and to identify opportunities for improvement. As part of this review, we consider feedback from internal stakeholders, the outcomes of any supplier audits, and any incidents or concerns raised during the year. Updates to this statement will be communicated to employees and made available to our suppliers and partners.
By maintaining a clear zero-tolerance stance, strengthening supplier oversight, providing accessible reporting routes, and committing to ongoing review, Waste Removal Fulham seeks to play its part in eliminating modern slavery and promoting fair and respectful treatment for all workers connected to our business.
